The increase in the world population with catches from capture fisheries remaining relatively constant, continued large increases in aquaculture will be required. In order to meet demand at current levels of consumption,
|

production from aquaculture will need to reach 60 million tonnes by 2015 where more than half of all fishery products will come from aquaculture. Any increases in consumption likely will require an even more rapid growth in aquaculture.
However, there are many other challenges face aquaculture development including environmental impacts, public perceptions, competition for land and water resources, statistics of uneven quality, climate change, certification schemes, and issues of food safety and traceability.verall, there are several challenges facing Arab African countries including competition on natural.trade and consumer confidence. |
